About Farzana

Values and Commitment

The need for awareness, empathy, and engagement is important, and is even more critical in today’s increasingly connected, yet polarized world. My work supports deeper connections and mutual understanding among different groups, towards a more equitable society.

My aim is to energize and guide the building of relationships, strengthening of community, and creating an outcome where everyone thrives. In order to do this, we must examine where we are currently, and at the same time envision a future state that is indeed possible with concrete steps, steadfast leadership, authentic feedback, and continued commitment to the process

My Background

I am a recognized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion specialist, coach, and international keynote speaker.  I have worked with Fortune 500 corporations, public agencies, higher education institutions, school districts, and non-profit organizations as a consultant and trainer on diversity and inclusion, intercultural communication, supplier diversity, and employee engagement.

My advisory work with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), small business advocacy, and entrepreneurship has taken her to engagements across North America, from the White House to Silicon Valley. My subject matter expertise on global community relations is recognized in my work with institutions like the Smithsonian and the East-West Center. I have been featured in media outlets such as Forbes, DiversityInc, NPR, the Washington Post, and the LA Times. I am based in Los Angeles, CA with a global upbringing including ties to South and Southeast Asia, and Canada, and am a published author on organizational training and culture, race, and identity.

A frequently requested speaker on DEI, race, unconscious bias, leadership, culture, and identity, I am committed to helping organizations and individuals lead more effectively and cultivate belonging in the workplace and society overall.  Through my intuitive coaching practice, I support individuals in accessing inner guidance to move towards healing, transformation, and achieving their full potential.

I am a parent of two active and loving sons. My latest book, Raising Multiracial Children: Tools for Nurturing Identity in a Racialized World, was published by North Atlantic Books in April 2020, and is distributed by Penguin Random House.
